as some people may have already noticed, google has added a link to their homepage advertising #banbossy, a movement to teach young girls how to be independent and assertive. from the website’s home page:

“When a little boy asserts himself, he’s called a ‘leader’. Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded ‘bossy’. Words like bossy send a message: don’t raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys- a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead.”

on the website, you can “pledge to ban bossy”, and that will automatically share the site on your facebook. you can share on other social media sites as well. the site has videos explaining their cause, lists of helpful tips for parents to help their daughters, and tons of other really cool stuff. if you’re not already sold on it, the movement is partially funded by the girl scouts (just one more reason to add to the list of why theyre becoming freaking awesome).

please spread around to let others know!!
